I'm Joe Dixon
When the paint hits the brush and the brush fits in my hand just right and every
stroke puts color just as I want it to land...those are the days I know I am really
putting 'me' into the work and out there into the world.
I don't consider the story of a painting ever done. I may be done with the paints and brush strokes, but each time it is seem by a new person the story of that painting comes alive again.
At the end of the day, the feeling of serenity that comes with being able to let go; able to guide the paint, not control it, is one I never want to lose.
'I spend a considerable amount of time trying to decide which way is up for my paintings!'
A great deal of my inspiration comes from finding beauty and symmetry in a chaotic world. Natural patterns, geometry and layers upon layersof color.
I admire the great works of Matisse, Picasso, Warhol, Basquiat, De Kooning as well as street artists, muralists and other less than mainstream talents.
